Sewing - nice way to engage women in leisure time.

Image
Teaching the girls to sew nicely is also a very good idea. Yes, you can teach the Brahmacarinis sewing very nicely, and it will be a great help to the society. Of course, if they can remain Brahmacarinis, it is nice. But it is difficult also. It is not good for the Brahmacarinis to associate with householders; similarly it is not good also for the Brahmacarinis to mix with Brahmacaris, but in your country the boys and girls are accustomed to mix freely. Therefore, we cannot put any deadline restriction. In my opinion, if the boys and girls get themselves married just like ideal Vaisnava householders, that is very good. But, if by the Grace of Krishna, both the girls and boys can live separately, that is still better, but it is not possible. If it is possible to divert the whole attention for Krishna's service it is quite possible to remain single even for the whole life. So you have got now good engagement so remain engaged in that work and train the Brahmacarinis also, chant Hare ...

Power of Inspiration

Image
Power of inspiration Srila prabhupada often mentioned that women class are power of inspiration for men.  lets analyse this statement with various examples from vedic scriptures how women  inspired men?  the Supreme feminine energy is Srimati Radharani who inspires the Supreme lord and never  ending transcendental competition between krsna and radha, both defeating each other. the  ultimate god is not one but two RadhaKrsna, Sita Rama, Lakshmi Narayana, etc. in this way  the personalities of godhead are addressed with their feminine counterparts. Everything in  the material world is the reflection of spiritual world. even in the transcendental realm,  women serve as inspiration for men. the same phenomenon exists in the mortal world  pervertedly. same like a reflection of mirror or image in a water, although looks alike it is  unreal. the principle of attraction between male and female is not false, mirror image of  trans...

Query: Non devotee husband

Image
Should a woman go back to Godhead by serving Krsna or ascend to heaven by serving non devotee husband?  *Progress in Spiritual life cannot be obstructed by any material condition.* If a chaste woman and devotee of Lord Krsna practices devotional Service along with her prescribed duties in Varnasrama dharma, then she is advancing in Krsna Consciousness, not degrading!  manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye yatatām api siddhānāṁ kaścin māṁ vetti tattvataḥ Out of many thousands among *men*, one may endeavor for perfection, and of those who have achieved perfection, hardly one knows Me in truth. ( Bhagavad Gita 7.3) please read the full purport.  All girls should be married! With the help of the husband (either devotee or non devotee) she should practice devotional Service. Without the help of husband it is difficult for a woman to practice devotional Service. She must beg protection from other men. This is pity condition.  Going to back Godhead is not ...

Home Sweet Home

Image
There once was a pigeon who lived in the forest along with his wife. He had built a nest within a tree and lived there for several years in her company.   The two pigeons were very much devoted to their household duties. Their hearts being tied together by sentimental affection, they were each attracted by the other’s glances, bodily features and states of mind. Thus, they completely bound each other in affection.   Naively trusting in the future, they carried out their acts of resting, sitting, walking, standing, conversing, playing, eating and so forth as a loving couple among the trees of the forest.   Whenever she desired anything, O King, the she-pigeon would flatteringly cajole her husband, and he in turn would gratify her by faithfully doing whatever she wanted, even with great personal difficulty. Thus, he could not control his senses in her association.   Then the female pigeon experienced her first pregnancy. When the time arrived, the chaste la...

What is the need for Varnasrama dharma in a spiritual society?

Image
What is the need for Varnasrama dharma in a spiritual society?  Srila Prabhupada said that remaining 50% of his mission is yet to accomplish. "To establish daivi Varnasrama dharma." Even after accepting the principal of pure devotional service, sravanam kirtanam etc, so many of disciples succumb to Maya, illusory energy.  Not everyone can immediately give up sense gratification.  The system of Varnasrama dharma gradually elevates the conditioned souls to the platform of pure devotional service. Pure devotee has no need to undergo rules and regulations of Varnasrama dharma.  Those who take the license of married life for sense enjoyment must also take the responsibility to satisfy the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu, and the first stepping-stone is the varṇāśrama-dharma system. Varṇāśrama-dharma is the systematic institution for advancing in worship of Viṣṇu. However, if one directly engages in the process of devotional service to the Supreme Persona...
